Galaxy Brain Orangutan - (Episode 3, Season 3)
Michael Scott
Three delicious selections for today’s episode and each one is special in that it teaches us something new.
We begin with the story of Ken Allen, an orangutan who’s lust for life is only eclipsed by his escapist skills. Through him we learn to appreciate where we are, and what we have. We acknowledge that even those in a cage can find freedom.
Next we discuss what could be the world’s most pretentious Amazon listing, a book of poetry called “Sheep Machine”. Through the book’s description, and discussion of the user reviews, we accept that art must be honest in order to entertain. Works constructed through arrogance offer nothing of substance. Enlightenment is discovered, not dictated.
And finally we tackle a bit of medical history, the less spoiled, the better. Through this selection, brought to us in large part by 17th century physician Thomas Sydenham, we bear witness to the toll that the hypocrisy of the upper-class takes on the bowels.
