Springing off the discussion of death and fan fictions, Michael and Jordan talk about their memories of sprite-based flash animations from Newgrounds and Video Game Director’s Cuts, a site which with the death of flash has gone the way of the dinosaurs. But the impact of Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom which had a real world tragic and thematic end, lives on in our hearts.

Genuinely thrilled that we’re here, Season 4. I’ve always loved working on creative projects, and doing so with friends is one of the most lovely things in the world. I’m so lucky to have the friends that I do that inspire me and now that we’ve found a good work/life balance we’ve been able to produce this podcast more and more consistently.
X Reader is an evolution of something we started long ago, and being able to say we’re on the fourth official season of it is incredible. I can only hope it continues getting better! This is Season 4.
But about the Fan Fiction: This episode of X Reader is centered around a Mario and Sonic crossover fan fic, which is certainly not a novel idea, but there’s always room for more Mario and Sonic. Additionally, this one is set in the future year of 2022, and during the Beijing Olympics no less. But then tragedy strikes the Mario and Sonic family.
