When you think comic books, there are few characters that come to mind quicker than the dynamic duo of Batman and Robin. They’re classic, iconic, and whole lot of other words that basically mean the same thing. They’re among the most recognizable characters in modern western fiction.
There’s been no shortage of speculation and jokes about their sexuality. From the Ambiguously Gay Duo to countless porn films and parodies, Batman and Robin have been the butt of homophobic conversation since at least the mid 1950s, fueled in large part by the campy Batman TV show, and by Joel Schumacher’s own particular sensibilities when he took over for Tim Burton in the 90s.
Today X Reader tackles a question that’s pervaded the batman mythos. Is Robin gay? And is Batman okay with it?
